While creating websites with WordPress is fun, maintaining and securing the site can be a tedious. These 5 WordPress plugins will make your life much simpler and will help you along your WordPress journey.

Wordfence Web Application Firewall is exactly what it’s name suggests. It’s a firewall that protects your website from attacks.
It has neat features like:
- Brute Force Protection
- 2 Factor Authentication
- SQL Injection Protection
- Blocks any known vulnerability exploits.
Note that this is not the only firewall plugin out there, there are quite a few firewall plugins available for WordPress. This one is our choice since it just works and hasn’t caused much issues for us.
2. WP Mail SMTP

This is a neat little plugin that allows you to configure your WordPress Site to use an external email server to send emails. It supports multiple email platforms plus generic SMTP server so you can use virtually any server that supports SMTP.
3. Yoast SEO

While WordPress can be used for virtually any type of site, one of it’s primary purpose is for blogging. If you write a lot of articles on your website or and want your website to get better indexed by search engines. This plugin is a must.
It’s features include:
- Readability Analysis
- SEO Analysis
- Sitemaps Generation etc.
4. Jetpack

This plugin will help you stop spams on your website. Spamming is a common way of online harassment and conducting scams.
This plugin will also give you basic stats on your page views and also has some security features.

5. W3 Total Cache

Basically, this plugin will optimise your website to run faster. It minifies js,css and html codes so they’re smaller in size. It also optimises your images, provides SEO analysis and also supports Content Delivery Network (CDN) integration.
